SimpliTend is aware of the challenges caregivers encounter daily, and we make a concentrated effort to help them. Our companys mission is to raise awareness about caregiver issues and to develop tools and applications to ease the burden of caring for our caregivers. Our mobile applications accomplish two goals at once: first, they give our elders a sense of freedom by providing them a basic mobile interface to manage their contacts, activities, and medications, enabling them to go about their everyday lives as usual. The second task is to provide our caregivers peace of mind by keeping them updated on their loved ones whereabouts and activities while they take care of their own children, job, or personal business.

SimpliTend combines senior and caregiver applications into a single downloadable app. First, the user will install the application on the seniors smartphone. The elder will submit contact information for their family caregiver as part of the installation setup. The SimpliTend app will send a secure email to the caregiver including a one-time security code, which the caregiver will enter to log in and complete the installation on their smartphone. Once the apps are installed on both the senior and caregiver smartphones, the senior and caregiver smartphones will be linked, allowing the caregiver to view the seniors profile and receive notifications.

On the senior smartphone, the SimpliTend program delivers a simplified user-friendly dashboard with only 5 huge buttons - Call, Chat, Apps, Direction to Home, and Emergency SOS.

Call: The senior can phone or text up to ten of his or her friends and family members. The contacts display contacts names and relationships, which may aid seniors with memory issues. Seniors can only receive calls from the ten contacts registered in the SimpliTend contact list. All other calls from the original phone contact list are blocked, resulting in fewer unwanted phone calls.

Chat: The SimpliTend application includes chat capabilities on the senior home dashboard, allowing the senior to communicate directly with the caregiver with the click of a button.
Direction to home: The SimpliTend senior dashboard has a preprogrammed button that provides turn-by-turn walking directions to the seniors residence. If the elder requests directions to their home, the caregiver will be alerted.

APP: This button on the SimpliTend senior dashboard displays a short list of applications for seniors.  The functionality is an attempt to decrease app clutter or restrict applications that seniors do not frequently use. The whitelisted or restricted applications can be chosen by the senior or caregiver during setup or from the senior profile.

SOS: On the SimpliTend senior dashboard, there is a preprogrammed SOS call button. The SOS button is set to dial 911, but it can be changed to dial a friend or family caregivers phone number. If the senior triggers the SOS call, the family caregiver will be notified.

The SimpliTend application has all the functionality that a senior may require, including the ability for the senior to enter and manage their prescription and daily activities.
SimpliTend believes that seniors should remain at home until they have a valid health or safety cause to relocate to a nursing home. The SimpliTend application securely links the senior device to caregiver, allowing the caregiver to view and update the seniors profile such medication or activity schedules. Family caregivers will receive notifications when it is time for the senior to take their medication or time to start scheduled activities.

Geofence: Our research shows that seniors like taking walks about the neighborhood on occasion, but there is always the risk that they will venture outside of their usual surroundings and become disoriented. SimpliTend enables caregivers to create a geofence around the seniors residence and receive notifications if the elder crosses the geofence zone.
